CONDOLENCES: Pi Mang Khan Cing (Dr. Bianca Son)
On behalf of “Leitungbup Zomi Innkuan Kipawlna” (LZI), we share our heartfelt condolences and extend our deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, and love ones for the untimely demise of Zo Lia, Pi Mang Khan Cing (Dr. Bianca Son). The sudden tragic loss never seems fair while one consumes with sadness. Let patience be upon you in this time of grief.
In deed she was a precious jewel of Zo/Chin people, not only hold the highest academic achievement of a Ph.D. degree in its sphere, but also gain love and confidence among her people. Like her father Dr. Vumson, it is evident that Bianca Son loves the Zomis/Chin by seeing her dedications and commitments.
Bianca worked as Senior Teaching Fellow, at the department of history, university of London when she passed away. She was conferred Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).
In 2013, she successfully completed a dissertation for her doctorate degree entitled “The Making of Zo: The Chin of Burma and the Lushai and Kuki of India through Colonial and Local Narratives, 1826-1988”. At the Third World Zomi Convention, Churachandpur, India she made an excellent pictorial presentation called “Reclaiming Our World & History, Identity & Culture Through Celebration, Political System, Participation in Globalization”. Bianca Son was actively and diligently involved in various organizations for the same cause.
Despite living comparatively a short life, she managed to carry out the legacy of her loving father. Her dad would have been very proud of her. Thus, in turns she also leaves her legacy behind, to younger generations in which we greatly hope and expect that many young stars would raise up to follow her footsteps. As we read here, her writings became inspirational sources to many.
A quotation from Bianca Mang Khan Cing’s letter Dated: May 31, 2013;
“An old Chinese curse reads, “May you live in interesting times”. You are, indeed, living in interesting times. Interesting times are those when we are forced to look at our lives, to look at our places in the world and to think of our futures.
Leaders try to inspire the youth to follow them, to believe in the things they say. But ultimately, you are the captain of your own lives. There is no need to remind you of the great people that stem from Zoland, the fearless warriors who dared to stand up against the British, the women who did not crouch in the face of fear and fought alongside the men. There is no point to repeat the past. You already know all these facts. Remember the great men and women who came from Zoland before you, the ones that have paved the way for you”.
Dr. Bianca Son, your love and concern for the Zo people will remain in our hearts as we always cherish in our memories. You are surrounded by the love of many. May you have comfort with your soul as you rest in peace. Executive Council (Leitungbup Zomi Innkuan Kipawlna)
