Report from Elim Resource Centre, Guwahati
Dear friends,
We take this privilege to update you about our involvement among the diaspora Churches, both in Singapore and in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia during August. Thank you for standing with us in prayer.
1. Zomi Gospel Olympic, Singapore, (August 8-11, 2014):
The Zomi residing, working, and studying in Singapore are among the first generation Diaspora who taste the reality of globalization. They had to leave behind their birth place and loved ones in search of better jobs and other developmental opportunities. In a country like Singapore, they found that they hardly have time for community bonding and meaningful Fun Filled activities. In view of the needs to have such interactions, the Zomi Innkuan Singapore (ZIS) organized the Gospel Olympic with a theme: “It is good for me to be near God” Ps 73:28.
Rev. Pau and Lucy were invited to minister and share on the relevance of drawing near to God. Drawing examples from the Bible, their own experiences in living abroad and the issues faces by other Zomi Diaspora in different parts of the world. Around 400 Zomi in Singapore were encouraged to love and fear God, to reach out to other communities.
One of the participants exclaimed, “The more I know God, the more I know I need Him.” A young lady commented, “Seeing Pastor Pau and his wife serving the Lord together, I will start praying for my future husband and do the same thing, serving God together.” A worship leader said, “The talk on Sports as a tool for evangelism, peace building and the comparison of a Christian life to sports is fun and meaningful.” (Report by Dr. Hau Za Chin, President of ZIS, Singapore).
2. Christian Ministers Leadership Conference, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (August 14-17, 2014):
45 Zomi Pastors & spouse, comprising of various denominations attended the two days Leadership Workshop. The evening worship services, focused on “Christian Family”. Pau administered and gave ordination to the eleven leaders of which two of them were women, to be Pastors.
We were excited to see 70% of the Pastors, young and potential, keen to gain more knowledge and theological studies as they migrate either to USA or Australia. We see hope in some of them becoming key leaders to minister to the 2nd generation Zomi Churches.
Some of their feedbacks are:
“From this training, I’ve decided to read books, take notes and use them in my teaching and preaching,”
“I realize that God is entrusting His children under my care, this is awesome and also challenging.”
The population of Zomi in Kuala Lumpur is estimated to be 30 thousand, the number increases every day. There are 35 churches catering to the social and spiritual needs of the members. Zomi Association of Malaysia (ZAM) was established in 2006. The Staffs assists the new arrivals for filing their documents in UNHR office, in finding suitable jobs (about 600 are working in KFC), health care and providing basic education for the children.
Please keep us in prayer for the programs in September:

2. Mokokchung Young Professionals Cohort, Barapani (Sept.12-15)
3. Tura Pastors & Spouse Marriage Enrichment Seminar (Sept.23-24)

Blessings abundant,
Pau & Lucy
