Letter of Appreciation: Zomi Nam Ni in Manipur, India
The Zomi Innkuan USA joins the Zomis from India, Myanmar, and many countries across the world in sending our congratulations and appreciation to the Zomis in Manipur, India at the recognition of February 20, Zomi Nam Ni, as a Restricted Holiday (RH) by the government of Manipur. In a diverse and multi- ethnic country as India, we welcome this recognition of Zomi Nam Ni as Restricted Holiday (RH) by the state government of Manipur as it reflects the accommodative spirit and approach of the government to include minority groups such as the Zomis.
We hereby convey our appreciation and respect to all the Zomi community organizations, tribe bodies, leaders and individuals who have, over the years, rendered their services and tireless efforts for the Zomi cause in Manipur. The declaration of Zomi Nam Ni on February 20 as a Restricted Holiday by the government of Manipur, henceforth, provides an occasion for all Zomis to avail the day off from government and official work to observe, reflect and celebrate on this auspicious day.
This is a significant milestone in the history of Zomi political movement and in our political history of the Zomi in Manipur. It is an acknowledgement of the Zomi community – our history and culture and interests.
We are jubilant at having a government sanctioned holiday in Manipur to observe and celebrate February 20 as Zomi Nam Ni with pride and dignity from now and in the years to come. Long Live Zomi Nam Ni! Tual Khan Suan (Executive Director – Zomi Innkuan USA)
